Frans Vreede (1950) has joined AKD Prinsen Van Wijmen in 2008 as a partner, specialised in aviation, transport and logistics. Prior to that, Frans was a partner at lawfirm Boekel De Nerée where he headed up the Aviation & Logistics dept. for more than 20 years.
Regarding aviation, Frans advises and litigates in liability and commercial issues pertaining to airlines, maintenance companies, Air Traffic Control, manufacturers of the aircraft and engines, as well as matters regarding damage caused by aircraft to third parties on the surface.
Clients include Hull and/or Liability Insurers, airlines, ground handling companies, freight forwarders, general sales agents, tour operators and travel agents, lessors and lessees of aircraft etc.
Frans has developed specific expertise in EU regulatory issues. On a regular basis Frans advises on issues regarding slot-allocation, security, EU-US open skies, emission trading, safety and security. Zeroing in on recent developments in commercial aviation, Frans assists owners and operators of Private Business Jets and Very Light Jets (“VLJ”) in setting up a base in the Netherlands or other EU countries.
Along with the aviation work, Frans is highly specialized in the outsourcing of logistics operations and supply chain management. Author of the Dutch Physical Distribution Conditions, and creator of an integrated Model Logistics Contract, Frans is involved in all related legal aspects on a daily basis, with an emphasis on international contract negotiations and arbitration.
Clients are European and global Logistic Service Providers, as well as foreign entrepreneurs wishing to outsource their European logistic operations.
Frans is author of several articles in the field and acts as speaker on national and international seminars on a regular basis.
For a consecutive period of several years, Frans has appeared in the highest rankings of Chambers Global, Legal 500, Who is Who Legal and Euromoney´s Expert Guides.
